Renée Cummings

Renée Cummings joined the School of Data Science in 2020 as the School’s first Data Activist in Residence. She is a Criminologist, Criminal Psychologist, Artificial Intelligence Ethicist, Therapeutic Jurisprudence Specialist, and Urban Technologist. Her areas of research interests include artificial intelligence, political science, and criminology. She studies the impact of artificial intelligence on criminal justice, specifically in communities of color and incarcerated populations. Cummings specializes in implicit bias, AI ethics, and best-practice criminal justice. She holds a M.S. in Rehabilitation Science and Substance Abuse Counseling from Hunter College, a M.A. in Criminal Justice from John Jay College, and Master’s Certificate in Terrorism Studies. Cummings designed her own Bachelor’s degree at Hunter College in Political Science, Philosophy, Media Studies, and Creative Writing. Cummings is also a Community Scholar in Artificial Intelligence and Criminal Justice at Columbia University.

Darlington Akogo

Darlington Akogo is a global leader in the field of AI. He is the Founder and Director of Artificial Intelligence at GUDRA and its subsidiaries: minoHealth, minoHealth AI Labs, karaAgro AI, Runmila AI Institute, and Gudra AI Studio. Akogo is involved in AI and tech across several other platforms and industries.
He’s the Lead of the Topic Group on AI4Radiology under the United Nations International Telecommunication Union and the World Health Organization’s Focus Group on Artificial Intelligence for Health (AI4H). At UN AI4H, Akogo leads the development of global regulations and standards for AI in radiology.
He is an Advisory Board Member and Ambassador to West Africa at AI Expo Africa, the largest business focused AI community in Africa. In addition to this work, Akogo is involved with the MIT Tech Review Global Panel and the World Economic Forum’s Global Shapers. Akogo also taught as Lecturer (Adjunct Faculty) of Artificial Intelligence at Academic City College and is the Bioinformatics (AI & Data Analytics) Resource Person at West African Centre for Cell Biology and Infectious Pathogens (WACCBIP). He has spoken at numerous international conferences including NeurIPS, MIT’s Global CommunityBioSummit, and the ACP Heads of States and Government Summit, amongst others. Akogo also writes reports and essays for Synapse Magazine and articles for MIT Tech Review Insights.

Lavina Ramkissoom

Lavina Ramkissoom  is a futurist leader standing for the unification of the African tech space. She is a conscious tech proponent with expertise in psychology, technology, and economics and their applications into AI, blockchain, emerging tech, ethics, and data. A catalyst that has served as chairperson, director, and founder across multiple industries, sectors, and technologies – aiming to unlock the potential of the African arena.

Humanising technology and actively serving as a growth enabler for tech talent across the globe. Often referred to as someone trailblazing through the continent accompanied with her inspirational-ally iconic outlook to unlock and be the consciousness for Africa.

Awards include top 10 leaders advancing AI, VentureBeat finalists in responsible AI, Top 100 Women in AI Ethics, African Trailblazer, Top 100 women leader and Top 20 women to look up to.
