Teki Akuetteh

Teki Akuetteh is an ICT/Telecom Lawyer, a Privacy/Data Protection Consultant, and Senior Partner at a law firm based in Accra, Ghana. She is also the Founder and Executive Director of the Africa Digital Rights Hub LBG, a member of the UN Global Pulse Privacy Advisory Group, and a non-resident fellow of the Center for Global Development. Previously, Teki has worked for the Government of Ghana in the development of several key legislations for the ICT sector including the Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843), Electronic Communications Act, 2008 (Act 775), and Electronic Transactions Act, 2012 (Act 772). She was also the first Executive Director of the Data Protection Commission of Ghana. Teki holds an LLM in Information Technology and Telecommunications Law from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow – Scotland and a Bachelor of Arts in Law and Political Science from the University of Ghana (Legon), Accra – Ghana.

Arthur Gwagwa

Arthur Gwagwa is a research scholar based at Utrecht University Ethics Institute. His research focuses on the geopolitical implications and the ethics of socially disruptive technologies AI, big data, and their regulation. Arthur sits on various international boards including the U.S. Open Technology Fund Advisory Board member, Stanford University Journal of Online Safety and Trust Board member, and the United Nations Global Pulse Expert on AI and big data.

Dr. Bev Townsend

Dr. Bev Townsend is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the York Law School at the University of York, UK. She holds the following degrees: BA LLB LLM PGDip LLM (cum laude) Ph.D. (UCT). Her expertise is in integrating law and ethics into safe and resilient autonomous systems (robots). Her research has focused on privacy, data protection law, data sharing and international data transfers, ethics, human rights, biotechnologies, AI, and regulation and governance. She is an honorary research fellow at the UKZN.
